Windows, door and siding, we will try to finish up this week.  Weather permitting.

When this is complete, the organization of the Garage/Shop gets serious.

We have been busy the last few weeks, working on the Studio in the afternoons.  Only missed a couple of days because of rain.  I will post some photos of the soon to be shop in a few days.

NEW (to me) LATHE:

I just picked up a lightly used Rockwell Lathe.  Model 25-100, 11" x 24". My best estimate from the serial number is that it was made in 1969.

Hopefully this will be up and running in the new shop before too long.

Yes, I have a plan.  Cycles Marguerite will be moving from Foster St. at the end of December.  After a little construction project and some organization, I will be setting up shop at home.  This is a very positive plan and should work out nicely.  It means that the shop will be closed for a short time, but I hope to be up and going before spring.  Thanks everyone for your continued support.

Moving....

I hate to post this, but Cycles Marguerite will be moving soon.  I am losing my space at 609 Foster St. overlooking right field of the historic Durham Athletic Park. I will keep everyone updated on the particulars as they become a little more definite.  Thanks for keeping up.

Fork Revisited:

  Spent some time reworking my fork bending fixture this week.  See the results below.

New bend on the bottom, old bend on the top. Both of these blades have 45mm of rake.  Thanks for the advice Tom, the new curve looks much better!!

Also spent some time helping a friend, Andy (Mantooth Industries) with a little machining on his frame jig.

That is all I can say.  These two racers and these two bikes.

I can remember reading about the two racers ( Do you know who they are?) and the bicycles speak for themselves.

This is just a tease.  I am having a decal sample display painted.  I will post photos when complete.

Head Badge Process

 Tube cleaned, fluxed with Magpie held in place.

 Add a little heat and silver; this is what you get

 Flux is then soaked off and if you did things kinda right there is little or no clean up needed along the shoreline

 Next, a little filing followed by a little sanding

Then a little elbow grease and a buffing wheel.

Ta Da, finished Head Badge.

This is what the final version looks like, two feet and a clean braze.

Busy

Finally, Fall is here.  For a few days anyway.  Things are going well.  Shop is pretty much set up and ready to roll.  Everything is in place to start cranking out frames.  I will try to update a little more regularly.

The Magpie is sufficiently rusted, so I had better get to work.

 I have been working on engraving fork crowns.  The logo fits nicely on a CX crown.

This is a polished version of the prototype.  Missing a foot and not super clean, but you get the idea.
